The 4GB patch for Fallout: New Vegas is a tool used to load the game with the Large Address Aware executable flag which is used to allow the game’s executable to use 4GB of Virtual Memory Address Space which can actually stopped the “Out of Memory” error from appearing. Also, there is another helpful mod which can be used to solve the problem. The cause of the error is usually the fact that the game is somehow unable to use more than 2GB of RAM by default and it needs to be changes using mods. Does FONV have a VRAM/RAM cap like Skyrim does? (Similar to Skyrim's 3.1 GB limit).What Causes the ‘Out of Memory’ Error on Fallout I've never experienced any issue like this in any other game, even Skyrim, which is MUCH more heavily modded at the moment. I had Google Chrome opened at the time, but I doubt it is that resource-hogging. This is odd, because my Graphics Card (a GTX 780) has 3gb of VRAM, and I have 16 GB of dedicated RAM for my system.
After a few seconds of wandering about Goodsprings, a message appeared, saying "Out of Memory!". This occasion, however, the game didn't crash near-instantaneously (It took about a minute, compared to the 15 seconds regularly), and I walked outside. Normally, after a few seconds, the game would crash and a slightly esoteric error message (I forget what it said, but something about a few textures, I believe). I reinstalled NMC's part two (To see if it was possibly a corrupted floor texture), yet the problem persists, usually after entering and exiting (Only tested in the Prospector Saloon in Goodsprings). Yet, in pubs, the floor is all blackened and seems like a missing or bugged texture.
